Moving through steam rooms, saunas, and ice baths, you’ll experience a powerful cycle of heat and cold that boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, and promotes deep relaxation. You don’t need to be a member of the gym to enjoy Recovery; guests, travellers and holiday makers are all welcome.

The ice baths at Social Remedy range from a chill 0.2°C to 6, 8, 10, and 12°C, giving you the freedom to find your ideal temperature. Whether you're easing sore muscles or tackling inflammation from everyday stress or intense workouts, our ice baths help you recover faster and feel your best.

Step into our steam room, infused with eucalyptus and tea tree, and let the warmth open your pores, cleanse your skin, and fill your lungs with soothing, detoxifying goodness. As the steam works its magic, it also helps expand your blood vessels, boosting circulation and giving you that ultimate relaxation and recovery.

Traditional Finnish Sauna

Let your body relax as the heat of the sauna melts away tension and calms your nervous system. Like a comforting embrace, the warmth increases blood flow, soothes muscles, and eases joint stiffness. Take this time to lower your heart rate, chat to the person next to you or meditate. Unwind in a peaceful, tranquil space.

How Recovery Works

DROP IN OR BOOK ONLINE

Groups are recommended to book online - but guests and members can drop in during Recovery open hours. Our friendly staff on the front desk are happy to help show you around.
Try Recovery before or after your workout… to help enhance your strength or conditioning.

Or maybe pop in on a day when you don’t feel like working out.
(Ice Baths are great for helping sore heads)


WHAT TO DO & WEAR

Arrive in your swimwear, we have a towel for you. Come alone or bring a friend with you and get ready to recharge. We suggest a rinse shower before each new zone.

Hot tip: bring a water bottle with you to stay hydrated in the sauna and steam rooms.


ADD A TREATMENT TO YOUR RECOVERY

We often have spaces for massage, Infrared or Cryotherapy which complement the Recovery experience for maximum pain relief or relaxation.

When you’re done, enjoy a private shower - we have complimentary soaps, shampoos and conditioners for you to use. Simply pop your towel in the laundry basket. Don’t be shy if there’s anything we can do to improve your experience - we want to hear about it.

  • Social Remedy members use our Byron Bay ice baths for their many benefits;

    • Reduced muscle soreness and pain - The cold temperature of the ice bath can help reduce inflammation and muscle soreness after intense physical activity.

    • Faster recovery - A cold plunge (ice bath) can improve blood circulation and reduce swelling, helping to speed up the recovery process.

    • Improved athletic performance - Regular use of ice baths has been shown to improve athletic performance by reducing fatigue and allowing athletes to train harder and longer.

    • Improved sleep quality - Cold exposure, like that from an ice bath, has been linked to improved sleep quality and reduced symptoms of insomnia.

    • Improved immune system - Cold exposure has also been linked to improved immune function, as it stimulates the production of white blood cells that help fight off infections.

  • 10 to 15 minutes, 2-3 times a week is the sweet spot for most people. That's just enough time to get the benefits of a cold plunge without putting too much strain on your body. Keep in mind that everyone's different, so you might want to start with a shorter time and work your way up if you're feeling good.

  • For a typical sauna session, it's recommended to stay in the sauna for 10-15 minutes, and then take a break for 2-5 minutes before repeating if desired. This allows you to get the benefits of heat exposure without over-taxing your body.

    For steam rooms, the recommended duration is typically shorter, around 5-10 minutes, due to the higher humidity levels in the steam.

    Remember to always listen to your body and keep your fluids up! Hydration is key!

    On each page, we offer a system to book in a time and date that works for you. Here, you can pay up front or add in a membership. Our members receive 10% OFF all of our recovery options from our ice baths, hot or infrared saunas, oxygen therapies, cryotherapy and IV drip bags.

    If you’re unsure of what option works best for you, feel free to contact us, or if you’d like to book in not on our website, simply walk-in and speak to one of our receptionists to access the ice baths, steam and sauna space.
